Seadd's Web Repository:
These are to my knowledge the oldest rave flyers in Zagreb. Furthermore, since distributing flyers to advertise club events was not usual, these might even turn out to be among the oldest flyers in Zagreb in general.
This was definitely the
very beginning of techno and rave scene in Zagreb. The proud position of first
club to host a techno party belongs to a small club KSET, which is runned
by electrical engineering and computer science students, as a part of their
faculty. At that time, by the end of 1991, KSET hosted body/electro evenings,
with strongly expressed s/m, dark and gothic atmosphere. However, with time,
DJ's managed to 'smuggle' a few 'techno' tunes of that time, like 808 State,
KLF, Cubik 22 and other 'pioneering' singles.
With time, this techno component was getting more and more time, and, interestingly,
gothic dark electro and 'plurish' rave managed to coexist for a long period
of time.
Have in mind that this was still time of air raids and darkouts in Zagreb;
war was still going on since armistice was signed on January 3rd 1992.
All of the flyers from this section were provided by my friend
Nara (thanx Nara:)
02.12.1991. Torture Garden: Virgin PrunesPersonally, I am very critical towards hand-made flyers. However , beside the fact that this happens to be one of the oldest flyers in Zagreb, it also looks very cool. Design is typical "Zagreb underground", penciled and xeroxed for very close circle of people. Name of the programme is also one of the best I've seen. |
09.12.1991. Torture Garden: Psychic TVSame designer as the week before, only the theme has changed: instead of Virgin Prunes, this is a Psychic TV evening. Still, no techno to be mentioned, but it was played. |
Autumm 1991. - Generic flyerThis is probably a generic flyer used to enter monday evenings in KSET. |
26.12.1991. Battle of the bassesThis is the first flyer I have come across where evening is explicitly called 'techno party'. I don't know who are the DJ's, but you can notice half of the PLUR on the flyer: love and peace. Oh, yes, a first computer design, which was worse than those done by hand :) |
